TOM SNYDER TO HOST NEW LATE-NIGHT PROGRAM FOLLOWING
"LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN" ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

Award-winning television and radio personality Tom Snyder will host a new late night program on the CBS Television Network, it was announced last night (9) in New York at The Ed Sullivan Theater by Howard Stringer, President, CBS/Broadcast Group, and Worldwide Pants Incorporated, David Letterman's production company.

Snyder's program, THE LATE LATE SHOW with TOM SNYDER, is scheduled to debut this winter at 12:37 AM (ET/PT), following the Monday through Friday broadcasts of CBS's LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN.  The one-hour talk show will originate live from Los Angeles and will be produced by Worldwide Pants Incorporated.

In making the announcement, Stringer said: "Tom Snyder's repartee and reach span the generations.  Over the years, he has proven he can talk to everyone and make that talk compelling.  He will be a provocative complement to the quick-witted, innovative and hugely successful comedy of David Letterman.  The sensitivity and intelligence they both have in common will ensure domination of late night and create a whole new standard for that time period -- a one-two programming punch second to none."
Letterman added, "It's a condition of Tom's parole."

THE LATE LATE SHOW with TOM SNYDER will showcase timely conversation with headlining guests from all areas of entertainment and news.  The program will also feature a call-in segment in which viewers at home can ask questions of Snyder and his nightly guests.

THE LATE LATE SHOW  will be simulcast live via CBS Radio and other participating radio outlets at 12:37 AM/ET (9:37 PM/PT; 10:37 PM/MT; 11:37 PM/CT).  Also planned are broadcasts via satellite from other locations as various topical events arise.

Snyder comes to CBS with more than 30 years of expertise in broadcasting -- including radio, network, cable and local news and entertainment.  Called a "timeless treasure" by the San Francisco Examiner, he has received widespread critical praise for his work as host of the tremendously popular program "Tom Snyder" on CNBC.  Entertainment Weekly recently wrote, "Snyder is using the medium with an ease that's just about perfect" and graded Snyder's work on the program an "A."

Snyder came to national prominence when he premiered his pioneering late late night talk show "Tomorrow" on Oct. 15, 1973.  As network television's first post-11:30 PM talk show, "Tomorrow" received critical acclaim throughout its nine-year run.  With nearly 770 broadcasts, "Tomorrow" earned several awards, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Program and Individual Achievement.  Snyder has also worked extensively in broadcast news and hosted a call-in show for ABC Radio for five years.

Snyder recently visited with Letterman on the April 22 broadcast of LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN.
